PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling deep drawing by die cushion capable of easily setting an adequate pressure condition for die cushion, and also changing the setting of a pressure condition for die cushion corresponding to alternation of drawing speed in the process of production. SOLUTION: Previously, deep drawing trials are carried out with drawing speeds corresponding to metal patterns, respectively. Based on the drawing result, there are found the minimum (Pm) and maximum pressure (PM) of the range that allow setting the die cushion pressure, which ensure quality items, according to each drawing speed (Vi) within the changeable range of drawing speed. Die cushion pressure DB of each drawing speed (Vi) is made and memorized by data set (Q) of the minimum (Pm) and maximum (PM) pressure corresponding to the each drawing speed (Vi) at this moment. The drawing speed is controlled within a changeable range corresponding to the metal pattern in use and selecting the set (Q) containing the numerical value of velocity nearest to the drawing speed in production from the memorized die cushion pressure DB, die cushion pressure is controlled on the basis of the minimum pressure (Pm) and maximum pressures (PM) of the range settable in this set (Q).
