PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking assist device capable of smooth image display without any time lag in the display even in the case that a currently available transmission medium of relatively low speed is used. SOLUTION: A garage 1 is provided with an image pickup camera 3 capable of image pickup of the parking position of a vehicle 11. The picked-up image is inputted into an information processing device 9, and only the image around the vehicle 11, for example, is taken out from the picked-up image to obtain taken-out information having a smaller amount of information than the one the picked-up image itself owns. The taken-out information is transmitted to the vehicle 11 through a transmission medium of relatively low speed like a public network for portable telephone, for example. The small amount of information can shorten transmission period, thus it is possible to display animated images smoothly on a display unit 15 positioned on the side of the vehicle 11.
