PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording head and an ink-jet recording apparatus which prevent the occurrence of cracks of a piezoelectric layer. SOLUTION: The ink-jet recording head has piezoelectric elements 300 each comprised of a lower electrode 60, a piezoelectric layers 70 and an upper electrode 80 set via a diaphragm constituting part of a pressure generation chamber 12 connected to a nozzle opening, and piezoelectric active parts 320 which are substantially driving parts for the piezoelectric layers 70 constituting the piezoelectric elements 300. The piezoelectric active part is set in a region opposite to the pressure generation chamber 12. In this case, a recess part 61 where at least the lower electrode 60 is removed is formed over a breadthwise direction of the pressure generation chamber 12 to the side of the diaphragm of the piezoelectric layer 70 of the piezoelectric active part 320, thereby easing a stress applied in a longitudinal direction of the piezoelectric layer 70.
