PREPARATION PROCESS AND USE FOR MONODISPERSE ION EXCHANGE HAVING CHELATING FUNCTIONAL GROUP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monodisperse ion exchanger having a chelating-functional group which has been unknown up to the moment and requires no intermediate step of haloalkylation for its preparation. SOLUTION: (a) Monomer droplets made from a monovinyl aromatic compound and a polyvinyl aromatic compound are allowed to undergo a reaction to generate a crosslinked mondisperse bead polymer, (b) this monodisperse bead polymer is subjected to amidomethylation using a phthalimide derivative, (c) this bead polymer is allowed to undergo a reaction to generate an aminomethylated bead polymer, and (d) this aminomethylated bead polymer is allowed to undergo a reaction to generate an ion exchanger having a chelating functional group.
