<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an isocoumarin-3-ylacetic acid derivative. SOLUTION: This method for producing an isocoumarin-3-ylacetic acid derivative comprises reacting a homophthalic acid derivative of formula I [Rc is a (substituted) lower alkyl; R1 is a hydroxyl-protective group] with a malonic acid derivative of formula II [R is H, a (substituted) alkyl, (substituted) alkenyl, (substituted) alkynyl, (substituted) lower alkoxy, protected amino, OH or protected OH; R2 is a carboxy-protective group; and X is an O-alkali metal or O-alkaline earth metal].</p> |
