PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flaky pigment having an excellent soft focusing effect, extending effect and ultraviolet ray-shielding effect, and further having appropriate whiteness. SOLUTION: This flaky pigment is prepared by adhering spherical silica particles having an average particle diameter of 20-500 nm to the surface of a flaky substrate having an average particle diameter of 0.5-10μm, and further covering the surface of the silica particle-adhered substrate with ultra fine particles of titanium dioxide.
