PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer provided with superior coloring sensitivity and storage stability and a recording material using the developer and provided with superior coloring sensitivity and storage properties. SOLUTION: A developer for a recording material is provided with a structure represented by an esterified reaction product of a carboxylic acid component A composed of a (poly) 4-hydroxy benzoic acid represented by a general formula I and a (poly) 4-hydroxy benzoic acid in which a hydroxyl represented by the general formula II is modified and a polyvalent alcohol B, trivalent or more. (In the formula I, (p) represents a 0-2 integer, and in the formula II, (q) represents a 0-2 integer, X represents 1-18C alkyl, alkyl carbonyl; alkyl carbamoyl or alkyl sulfonyl; 6-30C aryl, arylcarbonyl, arylcarbamoyl or arylsulfonyl; or acetoacetyl). |
