PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carburetor for an engine which facilitates adjustment of an air-fuel mixture ratio, hardly causes engine stall even when high load is abruptly applied thereto, and suspends inflow of fuel into a float chamber with certainty when the it is inclined by a specified angle. SOLUTION: A fuel vessel 3 is attached to a lower side of a carburetor main body 2 to form a float chamber 4. A float 7 is pivoted inside the float chamber 4 in a vertically oscillatable manner. A float needle valve 9 is linked to the float 7. A fuel outlet 11 of a fuel supply pipe 10 is opened inside the float chamber 4, while the fuel outlet 11 is opened and closed by means of the float needle valve 9 in accordance with the vertical oscillation of the float 7. A weight guide member 17 is fixed to a lower side of the float 7. A tapered guide surface 18 is formed on the weight guide member 17 which is tapered in respect to a horizontal surface by a specified angleθand directed to the float 7. A movable weight is arranged on the tapered guide surface 18.
