The invention relates to a device making it possible to stow bicycles flat on the roof of cars, easily. It includes two roofrack bars 1 fixed to the roof 2. Each of them supports another, special, extensible bar made in two parts, a male part 4 and a female part 8. The free male end is connected by its support 7 and the pin 6 to the slide 5 moving along the roofrack 1. Each female bar is connected for parallelism to its counterpart by the spacer 11 each extension of which includes the support 12 for the tyre 13. The movable assembly is firstly pulled horizontally then obliquely until it touches the ground. By lifting the bicycle slightly, its frame 10 and the tyre 13 and their counterparts will be placed on their respective supports 9 and 12. It will be sufficient to raise the assembly back up again, firstly horizontally and then to push it onto the roof so that, with the support 9 encountering its stop 14, fixed to the male tube 4, the bicycle is locked in place.
