METHOD FOR DETECTING SHORT CIRCUIT CONSUMABLE ELECTRODE TYPE ARC WELDING AND WELDING EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To instantly detect the short circuit at the start of arcing by measuring the potential difference between terminals of DC reactor 5 which is connected to output circuit 4 and comparing it with a predetermined value. SOLUTION: Since prior arts use a current detector or shunt resistors corresponding to the output current of a welder, a judge level detecting shortcircuit at the start of arcing is set high to eliminate influence of outside noise, which delays detection by several milliseconds after short-circuit between the welding wire and the base material. Meanwhile, in this method, the potential difference between terminals of a DC reactor in measured and compared with a preset voltage to detect shortcircuit without delay.
