PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new relay transfer device for positively lifting and transferring a large amount of picked tea leaves from a picking machine to a receiver at once substantially without damaging the tea leaves in a tea ridge-spanning and traveling type tea leaf-picking machine. SOLUTION: This relay transfer device 5 is loaded on a tea leaf-picking machine 1 provided with a travel frame 2, a picking machine frame 3, and a receiver 4 for receiving the picked tea leaves A, and is used for positively lifting and transferring the harvested tea leaves A from the picking machine frame 3 to the upper portion of the receiver 4. The tea leaf-receiving side of the relay transfer device 5 is opened in the working travel direction in the rear portion of the picking machine frame 3. The tea leaf-extruding portion 54 of the transfer device 5 is disposed sufficiently above the starting portion of the relay transfer device 5 and connected to a tea leaf-receiving opening site in the upper portion of the receiver 4.
