<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the mountability of an exhaust emission control device for a diesel engine, onto a vehicle, and to reduce the emission of micro- particulates in exhaust gas into the atmosphere in a low load range. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device is composed of a casing 11 located in an exhaust passage 2 of a diesel engine 1, oxidizing catalyst 4 located downstream of the casing 11, a particulate filter 5 located upstream of the oxidizing catalyst 4 and defining a space 5A between itself and the casing 11, a filter support member 6 located in the space 5A and supporting the filter 5 to the casing 11, a first exhaust passage 8A for discharging exhaust gas having passed through the filter 5 into the atmosphere, a second exhaust passage 8B for discharging exhaust gas having passed through the space 5A into the atmosphere, and a selector valve 9 for selectively changing over the first and second exhaust passage 8A, 8B between releasing and blocking conditions.</p> |
