PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing low-phosphorus milk capable of efficiently reducing the phosphorus content of milk without impairing the quality, esp. thermal stability, of the final product. SOLUTION: This method for producing low-phosphorus milk comprises the following practice: an acid is added to a milk to be treated to adjust the milk to pH 5.3-6.2, the resultant milk is contacted with a granular dephosphorizing agent acting to raise the pH of the milk to be treated to dephosphorize the milk to be treated along with shifting its pH to alkaline region followed by adding an acid to the resultant milk to adjust the milk to about pH 6.6; wherein the dephosphorizing agent to be used is boehmite subjected to no acid cleaning, and citric acid having intense chelating action on calcium ion is used as the acid to be added to the milk to be treated whose pH was shifted to alkali region.
