PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium, for which a phase-changing recording material with Ag, In, Sb and Te as the major elements is used, and which is excellent in initial recording property and repeating overwrite property under a further high density recording condition, in the recording medium wherein a recording and the rewriting of a high speed, high density and high capacity image data are required. SOLUTION: For this phase-changing type recording medium, the reversible phase-change of an amorphous phase and a crystal phase is used. In this case, an unrecorded state or a phase state after the initialization of the recording layer, wherein Ag, In, Sb and Te are the major elements, is constituted of a hexagonal crystal phase comprising Ag, In, Sb and Te. |
