<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bat for softball and baseball which has improved durability and maintains high batting performance by providing a thin, lightweight composite material which has a strength against forces, which may cause recesses. SOLUTION: In the insert 18 of a bat 10, a tubular sleeve 24 having an inner surface, an outer surface, and a center axis defining an axial direction and, a tubular composite material layer 26 joined to at least one portion of any one of the inner surface and outer surface of the sleeve 24 are provided. The layer 26 is formed so that its circumferential strength is larger than its axial strength. The layer 26 includes fibers oriented in a direction at an angle of about 90 deg. with respect to the axial direction. The layer 26 is thin and lightweight, and moreover has durability and good performance.</p> |
