PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a slide of a starting element and an incorrect speed change when during control of a line pressure during selection, engagement of a starting element is sensed and an accelerator pedal is pedaled. SOLUTION: Only in a way that during a time from an N→D select time t1 to a select time line pressure control time TS2, a line pressure is set to a select time oil pressure PSEL as shown byδ, and when a driver senses engagement of a friction element for starting at an instantaneous time t2 during the control and sets a throttle opening TVO to some opening TVO3, a slide of a starting element and incorrect speed change occurring due to insufficiency in a line pressure. Therefore, after the instantaneous time t2, control is effected so that a line pressure PL is adjusted, as shown byβ, to a highest value Max (PSEL, PCLU< and PCVT) of a select time oil pressure PSEL, a clutch necessary pressure PCLU corresponding to operation an accelerator and necessary engagement of the friction element for starting, and a speed change necessary pressure PCVT corresponding to accelerator operation necessary to achievement of continuously variable speed change. Also in operation of an accelerator at the instantaneous time t2, a problem, such as inability for a given change gear ratio to occur and the occurrence of an unexpected downshift, is prevented from occurring. |
