PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor constituted to suppress vibration and noise and to sufficiently separate lubricating oil. SOLUTION: In this hermetic compressor, a motor element with a rotating shaft is enclosed on the upper side in a closed container formed by closing an upper opening of a cylindrical drawing case by jointing an end cap thereto, and a compression element driven by the rotating shaft of the motor element is enclosed on the lower side. A sucked refrigerant is compressed by the compression element and discharged into the closed container, and then discharged from a refrigerant discharge pipe provided at the end cap jointed to the upper opening. In the hermetic compressor of such constitution, step difference between the cylindrical drawing case and a joint part of the end cap jointed to the upper opening is eliminated and made as flat as possible.
