PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator improved in riding comfortableness of a car by reducing vibration and resonance caused by transverse vibration from the outside at the time of vertical movement of the car of the elevator. SOLUTION: A first car floor 6a comprising a recessed part 13 and a second car floor comprising a projected part 14 smaller than the recessed part 13 absorb the transverse vibration to exert damping force when the transverse vibration acts on a car frame 5. When large transverse vibration which the recessed part 13 of the first car floor 6a and the projected part 14 of the second car floor 6b can not absorb acts, the recessed part 13 of the first car floor 6a and the projected part 14 of the second car floor 6b convert the transverse vibration to longitudinal vibration, which is absorbed by a vibration control member 11 and a pitch spring 9.
