PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method by which normal/defective condition discrimination is efficiently executed at the time of inspecting the image pickup direction of an on-vehicle camera. SOLUTION: In the inspection method to inspect the normal/defective condition of the image pickup direction of a camera 1 by displaying a picked-up picture picked up by the camera 1 attached at a car body on a display device 17 and comparing the position of a reference pattern in the picked-up picture displayed with the position of a discrimination pattern by an inspector, the picked-up picture is firstly obtained by picking-up a test chart which is arranged at the position previously stipulated on the front side of a vehicle and also in which the reference pattern is drawn by the camera 1. Next, the discrimination pattern is set at the specified position of the picked-up picture. Then, the picked-up picture at which the discrimination pattern is set is displayed on the display device 17.
