PURPOSE: An aromatic polycarbonate is provided, which is improved in a color stability when it is stored at a room temperature for a long time by inhibiting the fluorescence intensity to be 4.0 times 10-3 or less. CONSTITUTION: The aromatic polycarbonate is such that the main repeating unit is represented by the formula(3), the melting viscosity stability is less than 0.5, the terminal OH group concentration is less than 100 eq/ton, and the relative fluorescence intensity at 465 nm is 4.0 times 10-3 based on a reference. In the formula, R1 and R2 are independent each other and are H, a halogen atom or a hydrocarbon group of C1-C12; m and n are independent each other and are an integer of 0-4; R3 and R4 are independent each other and are a halogen atom or a hydrocarbon group of C1-C12; an R5 is an alkylene group of C3-C8. |
