PURPOSE: A focus detecting apparatus is provided to be capable of adjusting the focus of a charge couple device(CCD) camera without supplying an additional power by installing the apparatus on a mount of the CCD camera. CONSTITUTION: A case(101) is installed at a mount(112), and a focus detecting unit is installed in the case in order to detect a focus distance. An information processing device(102) is installed at one side of the case and converts information detected by the focus detecting part into a digital value. A display unit(103) displays the information processed by the information processing device and is installed on one side of the case. A power supply unit(104) supplies a power so that the display unit is operated. The focus detecting unit includes an infrared light device(121) for emitting an infrared ray of light, a projecting lens(122) for projecting the infrared ray of light on a surface of a CCD device, a condensing lens(123) for condensing the infrared ray of light reflected from the surface of the CCD device, and a photoelectric sensor(124) for receiving the infrared ray of light from the condensing lens to convert the received light into an output current.
