PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device quickly and easily measuring foam characteristics such as the position of the interface between a foam layer and a liquid layer, the volume of the foam layer, and the specific gravity in sparkling drink. SOLUTION: A measuring device 1 is provided with a laser width measuring machine 2 and a laser displacement gage 3. The laser width measuring machine 2 is arranged on the side of a vessel 5 mounted on a stage 4 and provided with a first light projecting part 2a outputting the projection light L from the side of the vessel 5 to the vessel 5 and a firsts light receiving part 2b receiving the projection light L and the transmission light O from the vessel 5. The laser displacement gage 3 is arranged in the upper part of the vessel 5 mounted on the stage 4 and has a second light projecting part 3a outputting the projection light P from the upper part of the vessel 5 to the vessel 5 and a second light receiving part 3b receiving the reflection light P from the vessel 5. A right-angled column having a transmittance is used for the vessel 5 and in this embodiment, in particular, a transparent glass vessel 5 of a regular square pole is used.
