PURPOSE: An apparatus for processing AAL-2/AAL-5 in a mobile communication system is provided to process an AAL-2 cell together with an AAL-5 cell and support to transmit the AAL-2 cell of each user to the corresponding destination through multiple virtual channels, thereby increasing the speed and the efficiency of a system. CONSTITUTION: A user interface(408) connects with each user of AAL-2 for receiving and transmitting a cell. Transceiving interfaces(426,427) connect with an ATM layer for receiving and transmitting the cell. An ALL-2 receiving part receives the AAL-2 cell from the transceiving interfaces(426,427), resolves the AAL-2 cell into mini-cell by each user, and transmits the mini-cell to the corresponding AAL-2 user according to the destination. An ALL-2 transmitting part multiplexes the AAL-2 cell of each user input from the user interface(408) in one cell and transmits the cell to the corresponding destination through the ATM layer. An AAL-5 processing part(401) processes an AAL-5 signal transmitted from the ATM layer and any AAL-2 user. A CPU(400) receives the AAL-5 signal from the AAL-5 processing part(401) for controlling the AAL-2 transmitting part and the AAL-2 receiving part.
