PURPOSE: An HDLC(High-level Data Link Control) communication router is provided to monitor and delete long packet error data in an input terminal of the router, and not to store data unnecessary for a memory, so as to reduce operation load and to increase memory using efficiency. CONSTITUTION: If a normal packet is received, an input packet monitor(10) generates a PACKET IN signal to an input packet counter(30). If a long packet error is generated, the monitor(10) transmits a LONG PACKET signal to a control block(20) and an address generator(40). Control blocks(20,100) generate DPRAM READ/WRITE signals, depending on whether a packet is received or an error is generated. The address generator(40) generates a DPRAM address(ADDRESS). If a PACKET IN signal is generated, the input packet counter(30) records inputted data amounts and outputs counter values to a comparator(60). The comparator(60) compares the counter values with counter values of an output packet counter(70). If the compared counter values are not equal, an address block(80) increases an ADDRESS, and the control block(100) generates a READ signal to read a packet to an output packet monitor(90) from a DPRAM(50). If the compared counter values are the same, an error generation is decided, and the address generator(40), the address block(80), and the counters(30,70) are initialized.
