PURPOSE: To decide a rolling pass schedule rationally based on a strong guiding principle without depending on the experience in a reversible rolling method and a reversible rolling equipment. CONSTITUTION: In a pass schedule arithmetic unit 14, the pass schedule is calculated and inputted to a preset device 15 being thickness control means. In the preset device 15, the proper initial opening degree of roll is set by controlling a screw-down motor 9 before rolling and control is executed by commanding a control target value to a thickness controller 11 and rolling-speed controller 12. As for the deciding method of the pass schedule, the product of a function which is in correspondence relation of monotonical increase to the rolling reduction of each pass including the rolling parameter of pass and a function including the rolling parameter which is increased together with the number of times of passes is calculated to obtain a function which is approximately independent to the rolling speed, and the rolling reduction at each pass is calculated by solving the parameter so that the value of this function is equalized at each pass by an optimization problem, and the pass schedule is decided by taking it as a draft schedule.
