DISK DRIVE ASSEMBLY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow cartridge loading and disk chucking by the movement of an FD cartridge only in one direction with respect to a disk drive assembly by devising the positioning in the transverse direction of the cartridge and to make the disk drive assembly smaller in size and thickness. SOLUTION: The disk drive assembly using a flexible magnetic disk 7 formed with an engaging recessed part 24 at the left side edge extending in an insertion direction with respect to the disk drive assembly 1 of the FD cartridge 4 is provided with a locking mechanism 65 having a locking pawl 97 which is engaged with the detaining recessed part described above and prohibits the removal of the FD cartridge from the disk drive assembly. The FD cartridge is pressed to a projecting part 61 for positioning formed in a position facing the disk drive assembly by the engagement of the locking pawl with the detaining recessed part of the FD cartridge.
