Described is a pressure sensor (11) in which a pre-tensioned spring (19) designed in the shape of a plate is located between the sensor hammer (16) and seat (21) in such a way that the outer edge of one side of the spring rests against the hammer (16) and the centre of the other side of the spring rests against the seat (21). When pressure acts on the sensor (11), the volume of the sensor is modified and the electrical resistance of the resistive layer (26) on the sensor seat (21) is progressively short-circuited. This gives a relatively high measurement sensivity, making it unnecessary to have a signal-processing or signal-amplification circuit inside the pressure-sensor housing (10). The pressure sensor (11) is therefore simple and cheap to manufacture.
