TREATMENT OF ORGANIC SULFUR COMPOUND-CONTAINING WASTE WATER AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To enable the biological decomposition treatment of waste water containing organic sulfur compounds while suppressing the generation of malodors by adding a waste liquid containing a quaternary ammonia compound or amine to the organic sulfur compound-containing waste water and treating the waste water and to reduce the treating cost. CONSTITUTION: DMSO(dimethylsulfoxide) is used as peeling and cleaning agents in the field of electronic industry. A biological treatment method is used for the decomposition treatment of the DMSO. In such treatment method, the waste liquid containing the quaternary ammonia compound or amine is added to the organic sulfur compound-containing waste water. Namely, the quaternary ammonia compound or the amine is used as a nitrogen source for the treatment of the organic sulfur compound-containing waste water. According thereto, the simultaneous execution of the treatment of the organic sulfur compound- containing waste water and the treatment of the quaternary ammonia compound or the amine is possible. Consequently, the need for ammonia which is heretofore used as the nitrogen source is eliminated and the cost for purchasing the same may be saved.
