PURPOSE: A production method of a guide pin is provided to form a hanging frame of larger diameter and an inserting rod of thinner diameter from a guide bar without losing a material by using a round bar having the same diameter as the longest guide rod. CONSTITUTION: A round bar having the same diameter as a guide bar (4) of a wanted guide pin (2) is cut. The cut round bar is fixed in a fixing die of a heading machine by inserting as the length of the guide rod (4). Each heading portion of the heading machine forms grooves having a shape of a hanging frame (14) and an inserting rod (16) in a multi-stage type. The hanging frame (14) having larger diameter and the inserting rod (16) of smaller diameter are produced from the guide rod (4) by heading with the heading portions. Thereby, the productivity is improved and the producing cost is reduced without losing a material.
