METHOD FOR COMBINING DEVICE INDEPENDENT BIT MAPS BY PREVENTING ARTIFACT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for constituting an image by combining bit maps while avoiding an artifact. SOLUTION: Concerning this method, device independent bit maps('DIB') are combined so as not to generate the artifact caused by macro engineering for image improvement 16 and made into plane to be plotted on a print page. The DIB is handle separately while dividing it into three classes. The first class DIB is a single and constitutes only one image on the page but it is suitable all the bit maps are combined and image improvement is performed later. The second class DIB constitutes respective images on the pages of plural images but it is suitable for the bit maps to be combined within the image (not between images) and macro image improving processing is individually performed on each image later. The third class DIB is recognized unsuitable for macro image improving processing and macro image improving processing is not applied in spite of danger to introduce the image artifact.
