PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a draw type optical recording medium for realizing stable recording/reproducing by reducing the heat generation of a recording layer in the case of being irradiated with reproducing light to prevent the reproduced signal and data from being broken. SOLUTION: This optical recording medium 10 has the recording layer 2 containing an organic dyestuff, a light reflecting layer 3 and a protection layer 4 on a substrate 1. Such a dyestuff is used as the organic dyestuff, as has the light absorbing characteristic to satisfy 1.1<=B/A<=2.2 (wherein A is an absorptance of the light having 650 nm wavelength; B is an absorptance of the light having 630 nm wavelength). When this dyestuff is used, the heat generation of the recording layer is restrained and the information can be stably reproduced since the absorptance of the reproducing light is low even when the intensity of the reproducing light is increased in the case of reproducing the information, which is recorded on the recording layer by irradiating with recording light, by using the reproducing light having the wavelength longer than that of the recording light. |
