PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a method and a control device for controlling a quenching ratio of a laser diode. SOLUTION: A step for comparing a value of a power/current characteristic curve of a laser diode which shows an incline of an operative part of the power/ current characteristic curve with a corresponding reference incline value determined previously, and a step for varying a modulation current to the laser diode according to the incline value which does not correspond properly to the reference incline value, are included.
