PURPOSE: A method for automatically locking a handset in a DECT(Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephone) system is provided to automatically lock the handset to a system when a multi-registered DECT handset enters a new system region, so as to reduce an inconvenience selecting a system by the handset whenever entering new system regions. CONSTITUTION: If a handset(20) is turned on or if the handset(20) enters a new system region, a system scans for a base locking. While scanning, a dummy bearer is founded, the system is synchronized with an S-field of the dummy bearer, and stores a RFPI(Radio Fixed Part Identity) in a memory. The system confirms an 'n' which is a registered system number, and compares the RFPI of an A-field with a PARK value stored in the memory one by one. The RFPI is that the handset(20) is registered to a DECT system. The PARK is RFPI data stored in the memory of the handset(20). If the PARK value is in accord with the RFPI, the system locks the handset(20) to the dummy bearer. If the PARK value is not in accord with the RFPI, the system repeatedly performs a scanning step and a comparison step.
