PURPOSE: A method for detecting a track cross signal of an optical disk recording/replaying device is provided to use an RF(Radio Frequency) signal received by subtracting light receiving signals generated in light receiving elements, divided in half to a radial direction in an optical detector, so as to generate a track cross signal having little influence of a cross talk caused by an adjacent track, when a track pitch is smaller than an optical spot. CONSTITUTION: An optical detector(502) generates an optical signal corresponding to an intensity of an optical signal reflected in an optical disk. The generated optical signal is converted into a voltage through an I/V(Current-to-Voltage) converter(504). A radial subtracter(506) subtracts light receiving signals generated in the I/V converter(504) to a radial direction, and generates an RF0(Radio Frequency0) signal. A capacitor(508) performs an AC coupling for the RF0 signal, and generates an RF1 signal. A peak hold circuit(510) and a bottom hold circuit(512) respectively hold a peak value and a bottom value of the RF1 signal to generate a peak hold signal and a bottom hold signal. A subtracter(506) subtracts the peak hold signal and the bottom hold signal, and receives a difference signal(RF2). An average value circuit(516) generates a threshold value(TH) for a binarization caused by an average value of the peak hold signal and the bottom hold signal. A waveform shaping circuit(518) binarizes the difference signal(RF2) by the threshold value(TH).
