Sandmould material consists of (wt.%) 0.4-3.0 (pref. 0.4-2.0) synthetic resin binder (I); 0.2-2.0 (pref. 0.3-1.5) curing catalyst for (I); 0.05-2.0 (pref. 0.1-1.0) in terms of SiO2 of a ceramic binder (II) selected from opt. hydrolysed silicate esters, and alcohol- or water-dispersed silica sol; 0.05-2.0 (pref. 0.1-1.5) curing catalyst for (II); and a balance of foundry sand. Opt. also present is 0.1-3.0 (pref. 0.5-2.0) anti-infiltration fireproof powder (III); 0.1-3.0 (pref. 0.3-2.0) common salt, borax or boric acid (grain size10-20 microns) as high temp. reinforcing material; 0.1-2.0 (pref. 0.3-1.5) saccharides (e.g. molasses) or dextrin as viscosity adjuster; and 0.03-0.5 (pref. 0.1-0.4) ferrous oxide or magnesium oxide as granular carbon stabiliser.
