Copying and enciphering device - includes intermediate store for scanned data prior to encoding via keyboard or magnetic card

The copying and enciphering device comprises an insertion port, a scanner which covers one or several rows of dots, a printer with paper feed and an output port. These units are assembled as a copying device, or a telefax device. When the device is required to operate as an enciphering device an intermediate store (3) is brought into use. The information detected by the scanner is fed into the store (3), which can be coded via a keyboard (4), or by e.g. a magnetic card device (5) in such a way that the stored information arranged as rows of dots, is line-shifted or exchanged. ADVANTAGE - Can be used with any commercially available fax machine.
