PURPOSE: A distance measuring apparatus for golf play is provided to allow a golfer to recognize correct distance between the golf ball and the hole cup. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a portable receiver(100) for encrypting, modulating and transmitting a hole recognition signal and an identification signal, demodulating and reading the radio signal transmitted from an external source, and calculating a distance signal by utilizing read radio signal; and a transmitter for checking a hole by demodulating and reading the signal transmitted from the portable receiver, encrypting and modulating the reference distance signal, hole recognition signal and an identification signal, and transmitting the encrypted and modulated signal to the portable receiver. The portable receiver includes a power supply(101), an operation panel(102), a coder(103), a frequency generator(104), a modulator(105), a transmitter/receiver(106), a demodulator(107), a decoder(108), a distance estimator(109), a display(110) and a micro computer(111).
