PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and an image processing unit that can solve a problem where a noise and distortion cannot sufficiently be eliminated in a conventional method and a conventional unit and that can obtain an easy to see image by enhancing improved accuracy of image quality. SOLUTION: An image extension unit 2 extends image data of an input (original) image to generate extended image data, a filter 1 applies filtering to enhance image quality to the extended image data to generate image data with enhanced image quality, and an image reduction unit 3 reduces the image data with enhanced image quality to generate image data of an output image in the image processing method and the image processing unit.
