PURPOSE: Provided are a photo-selective absorption coating composition and a filter containing the same which can enhance the color purity and contrast in a color display by blocking reflected light and emitted light which corresponds to the color between the three primary colors. CONSTITUTION: A photo-selective absorption coating composition is characteristically containing plastic resin or carbocyanine derivative, which is dissolved in an organic solvent. The carbocyanine derivative is represented by the formula (1), wherein R1 is an alkyl group having 1-6 numbers of carbons or carboxylic group, and X¬- is I¬-, Br¬-, ClO4¬- or toluene sulfonate or chlorobenzene sulfonyl group. The composition can be applied to the surface or the filter of a color display to block the reflected light and emitted light from the display, thereby the color purity and contrast are enhanced. |
