PURPOSE: A carrier tape for a tape carrier package is provided to prevent copper pieces causing a short between leads, by preventing a lead from being cut during a cutting operation. CONSTITUTION: A base film(30-1) has a plurality of lengthwise guiding holes on its both sides. A driving circuit chip(33) is located on the base film. A plurality of leads(34) are formed on the base film and electrically connected to the driving circuit chip. The plurality of leads are separated from the base film together with the driving circuit chip through a cutting operation using a cutting unit in which a cutting line(39) defining a predetermined region is set, wherein the leads are patterned to be located in only a region defined by the cutting line so that the leads does not cross the cutting line.
