PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polyamide film for a high-density magnetic recording medium allowing the production of the large-capacity magnetic recording medium which prevents the formation of flocculated particles to be the cause for drop-out, has excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics even when used for a base film of the vapor deposited metallic thin film type magnetic recording medium and is extremely little in the drop-out. SOLUTION: This aromatic polyamide film for the high-density magnetic recording medium is formed by coating at least one surface of a film A which is a biaxially stretched film consisting of aromatic polyamide substantially free of inert particles therein and stretched to >=5.0 times in area magnification and having the sum of the Young's moduli in a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction of >=2,000 kg/mm2 with a coating layer B. The aromatic polyamide film described above is characterized in that this coating layer B contains a binder resin, a filler and a surfactant; the surfactant contains a surfactant X of 10 to 14 in HLB value and a surfactant Y of 16 to 18.5 in HLB value; the total HLB value thereof is 15 to 18 and the amount of the surfactant X with respect to the solid content of a coating liquid is 0.1 to 15 wt.% and the amount of the surfactant Y is 10 to 40 wt.%.
