PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which permits exchanging of the illuminating element of the device which element has a construction in which the element is enclosed by connection bodies between the terminal electrodes of the four sides (all sides) of the glass substrate of a liquid crystal display element and a circuit board and to provide an electronic equipment in which the liquid crystal display device provided with the illuminating element is used and the exchanging of the illuminating element of the liquid crystal display device is made possible by allowing the equipment to have a construction capable of opening and closing the lid of a cabinet. SOLUTION: Terminal electrodes of the four sides of a liquid crystal display element 100 and a circuit board 300 are electrically connected with flexible circuit boards 200. One end of the board 200 is insertingly connected to a connecting connector 600 in a detachable way. Then, an illuminating element 400 is arranged between the display element 100 and the circuit board 300. Thus, the element 400 can be easily exchanged by removing the one end of the circuit board 200 from the connector 600.
