PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing technique capable of decreasing the damages of wiring of a liquid crystal device having reflection electrodes and wiring composed of metallic films consisting of soft metals. SOLUTION: Alignment layers 16 are formed so as to completely cover protective films 15 on a first mother substrate 11 as well as the wiring 14 and connecting terminals 150 of planned overhanging regions 11B. The alignment layers 16 are formed by printing of a polyimide resin by a flexographic printing method or the like, then baking the resin. The alignment layers 16 are formed so as to completely cover the planned overhanging regions 11B as well in addition to planned liquid crystal sealing regions 11A and are subjected to a rubbing treatment.
