MULTIPLE OPTICAL FIBER TAPE WITH TWO-DIMENSIONAL ARRAY OPTICAL CONNECTOR, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD AND RETAINING MEMBER, FOR MULTIPLE OPTICAL FIBER TAPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of buckling bending in the inner optical fiber tape based on the difference of inner-outer rings of respective optical fiber tapes when the optical fiber tapes whose superposed intermediate parts are retained are bent. SOLUTION: The proper parts in the length direction of the two superposed optical fiber tapes 1 are retained by retaining members 12 while shifting the two optical fiber tapes with each other in the width direction of the tape. On the tip of the tape, a ferrule 4 having optical fiber holes of two-dimensional array (in this case, optical fiber holes which are arranged in transverse two rows) is attached. As the two optical fiber tapes 1 are mutually shifted in the width direction of the tape, the two optical fiber tapes 1 do not form the inner- outer rings to each other when the double optical fiber tapes 15 with an optical connector are bent. When the tapes 15 are bent, therefore, the buckling bending due to the difference of the inner-outer rings does not occur in the inner optical fiber tape 1.
