PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a displacement measuring method which is adaptable to objects having complicated shapes such as ground, bedrock, etc., capable of measuring the displacement at many points and suppressing the equipment cost. SOLUTION: A magnetostrictive line 3 and a measuring targets 5 having permanent magnets 103 disposed along the magnetostrictive line 3 are provided. The measuring targets 5 in the length direction of the magnetostrictive line 3 are located by the magnetorestriction effect. The magnetostrictive line 3 has a visibility, many measuring targets 5, 5,... are provided on a slope 1, and the magnetostrictive line 3 is laid along the many measuring targets 5, 5,.... Owing to the visibility of the used magnetostrictive line 3, they can easily be set on an undulating slope 1, etc., having a complicated shape, and the displacement at many points can be measured by measuring the positions of the many measuring targets 5, 5,..., using the common magnetostrictive line 3.
