The stapler has staples in a container (24), which are ejected by the staple thrust piece when pressure is applied to the pressure cover (1). The parts act with a staple block (31) during stapling of papers, so that the staples are protected against bending. When all staples are used-up, the staple slide is pushed to the front end of the container. When the pressure cover is pressed down, the staple slide is pressed down, and a locking block is pushed out, so that the staple container is moved forward by a spring, to simplify replacement of staples.
