PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a reproducing device for a digital information signal eliminating the setting from the outside with respect to a parameter required for control according to a reproducing speed of a recording medium. SOLUTION: In the digital information signal reproducing device provided with a reproducing head 12 reading out the information from the recording medium 11, a waveform equalizer circuit 13 changing a waveform equalization characteristic according to the reproducing speed, a waveform shaping circuit 14 binarizing the output of the circuit 13, a speed monitor voltage generation means 16 generating a speed monitor voltage from the waveform shaping circuit output, a sample-hold means 17 sampling-holding the relevant voltage and a hold timing detection means 18 detecting the hold timing, the device is constituted so that the speed monitor voltage is held when the output of the reproducing head 12 becomes lower than a threshold value.
