PURPOSE: An expansion tank in a marine engine is provided to remove the valve cover of a thermostat valve as well as to reduce the length of a pipe laying and easily lay the pipe laying by filling the role of a coupling pipe laying between the coolant outlet of the thermostat valve and an exhaust manifold. CONSTITUTION: An expansion tank contains a coolant passing chamber(A) in the part for passing high temperature coolant with a coolant inlet(41) and a coolant outlet(42). An expansion tank chamber(B) is formed in the last part of the expansion tank. A thermostat valve(11) is installed in a valve housing(11') instead of a valve cover to connect the coolant inlet to the exit of the valve housing. In this structure, the coolant outlet faces upward, the coolant inlet faces downward and the exit of the coolant passing chamber faces backward. Therefore, a marine engine becomes compact and the pipe laying is easily laid.
