PURPOSE: A method for controlling a servo using a TOC(Table Of Contents) is provided to search the TOC recorded in a read-in area of a disk recording medium before a received command is moved to a target track, if the command requesting data requesting is received from a host such as a PC(Personal Computer). CONSTITUTION: If a read-command is transmitted and received to a microcomputer(S30) from a host such as a PC(Personal Computer), the microcomputer searched a TOC(Table Of Contents) recorded in a lead-in area of an optical disk(S31). The microcomputer sets up a target point, a position of recording data requested by the host(S32). The microcomputer confirms whether a data type is for general data or real-time data(S33). If the second bit from an upper part of a control field indicates 1(one), an error message indicating that the transmission of the read-command is illegal is transmitted and reported to the PC(S34). If the second bit from the upper part of the control field indicates 0(zero), a servo variable for searching the target point is set(S35). And the target point is searched(S36). If the search of the target point is completed, a data reading operation is performed at a high speed mode appropriate for reading the general data(S37).
