PURPOSE: A dyeing device for laboratory test capable of obtaining a uniform dyeing condition by coating a sample fabric or yarn is provided. Also provided is a dyeing method for performing uniform coating by passing the fabric and yarn without necessity for being wound on a supporting core though a dye liquor. The device and method are industrially preferable, improve reliability and use stability and imparts excellent dyeing effects. CONSTITUTION: This dyeing machine contains a dyeing chamber(20) which can be sealingly coupled to at least one portion of a cloth(30) to be dyed, means which is additionally provided for displacing the dye liquor, adapted to carry out a sequence of alternate passages of a dye liquor through the fabric or yarn to be dyed. The dyeing chamber comprises an upper bearing(21) and lower bearing, the two bearings are hermetically combined with the cloth to be dyed and the lower bearing is driven by a shift cylinder(23) and communicated with refilling chamber(40) which plays a role of a shifting means for shifting the dye liquor.
